Not yet confirmed - but this information appears to fit with the correct family as per the 1881 & 1891 censuses.
"... there are 2 John Gibbons I will try to explain.......... John Gibbons brn Culmstock 1799 married a Mary Baker brn Kentisbeare 1796, they married in Littleham in June 1816. They had 15 children starting with Thomas John Baker Gibbins Brn 1817 Littleham, their second son was John Gibbins brn 20 Feb 1820 in Littleham he married another Mary (surname unknown) who I think was brn in Tallaton information from 1871 census, I have found 2 children so far both sons Thomas brn 1852 Exmouth and Robert brn 1854 Exmouth, this is the Robert that I think is linked to you. My link is through the 7th child another son called Edward Baker Gibbins brn 1827 he is the younger brother of John brn in 1820. "
